The Permanent Mission of Rwanda to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva jointly with the Office of the United Nations at Geneva, on 8 April, organized a ceremony of observance of the International Day of Reflection on the Genocide against Tutsi in Rwanda in 1994.
The ceremony began with the lighting of candles and the observance of a minute of silence in honor of the victims of the Genocide.
A number of Senior UN and International Organization officials, Ambassadors, diplomats and international civil servants in Geneva, as well as members of the Rwandan Diaspora and Friends of Rwanda living in Switzerland attended the ceremony.
Screening of the song''Never Again'' with the East African Ambassadors and Diplomats based in Geneva.
On April 18th, 2012, the Rwanda Embassy/Permanent Mission in Geneva invited Ambassadors and diplomats from the East African Community to partake in the closing week of the 18th Commemoration. The Rwandan Ambassador H.E Soline Nyirahabimana addressed the distinguished guests and delivered the message of “Never Again”.She also called for increased cooperation and strengthening of ties between countries within the East African Community based in Geneva. Following the welcoming speech, a screening of the song “Never Again” performed by musicians from the East African Community including Rwandans. Guests in attendance thoroughly enjoyed the powerful message that came from the music video. The success of the event has led to talks of other possible East African Community events in the future.
